What’s On This Month?

British Summer Time starts on 25th March, so the longer nights stretch before us. The birds are singing in the trees, the washing is drying on the line and the bulbs are pushing their heads up. Hooray!

Easter Sunday is 1st April, which is also St. Gilbert’s Day. The Cathedral was founded by St.Gilbert in 1224 and at the suggestion of Rev. Susan Brown, minister of Dornoch Cathedral, St. Gilbert’s Festival will run for a week until 8th April. The festival starts with a sunrise service on Dornoch beach and has something for all the family with walks, quizzes, flower display, Easter egg hunt, concert in the Cathedral, community market, pipe band, coffee morning, baking stall on the green and a chance to go up into the Cathedral tower to get a splendid view of Dornoch. Look out for the monks outside the shops and pick your favourite!

Why not treat the family to an Easter Sunday Lunch at the Dornoch Castle Hotel or the Royal Golf Hotel or book into Sutherland House for dinner?

There are some great music events with Sutherland Sessions: Great Big Easter Weekend with Saltfish Forty, Old Blind Dogs and Mairearad & Anna or listen to Gnoss at Portmahomack on 11th April.

Historylinks Museum has had a facelift over the winter so go and check out the new facilities and displays – open daily 10-4.
