Wild Swimming

There’s nothing quite like a swim in nature. Wild swimming, sometimes known as outdoor or open water swimming, is extra special in Scotland due to the beauty surrounding you wherever you choose to take a dip.

Dornoch’s safe, Blue Flag beach, is ideal for families with its gentle shallows, sheltering dunes and miles of golden sands. Perfect for paddling and swimming. There is car parking at the beach close to a children’s playground and toilets. There are many other local beaches to choose from including Golspie and Brora. There are also many lochs in the area suitable for Wild Swimming. Make sure you take care to follow all safety precautions when wild swimming.

Go Wild Highlands offers open canoe trips down the Kyle of Sutherland and other Sutherland locations. This slow-moving, easy river with its narrow creeks and wooded islands is ideal for the beginner or anyone looking for a relaxed adventure rich in wildlife, scenery and history.

Whether you live in the area, are visiting on a cruise ship, staying on holiday locally or travelling the North Coast 500 we have several trips to choose from. You can choose from all day trips with a homemade lunch supplied, a Swallows and Amazons trip combining canoeing with bushcraft or an evening paddle looking for the local wildlife.
