This year’s Sutherland Agricultural Show takes place at the Dornoch Links on Saturday the 23rd of July. It is celebrating it’s 50th year in Dornoch so do come along and help celebrate!
It is a fantastic day out for every age and is host to a funfair, craft tent and many other stalls as well as the animals. There are 150 exhibits in total and it is a very full day for the whole family. There are many live stock pens where you can get up close to a range of animals including sheep and cattle. New in 2015 was a poultry section which included a fantastic array of chickens, ducks, quail and more! Entry is: Adults, £7. Child/Concessions, £4. Under 5’s, free. There is also free parking.
The Main Ring Feature this year is Les Amis d’Onno- Knights of the North, Scotland’s only jousting team. “An action packed entertaining show where fearless jousting Knights test their horsemanship and battle techniques in skill at arms, cabbage cutting, quintaine, foot combat and tournament jousting.Thrills, spills and daring stunts as good and bad knights battle it out, all overseen by our Lady mounted side-saddle and commentary provided by our Master of ceremonies.” The team have performed all over the country with their magnificent Friesian and Andalusian horses and it is very exciting that they are bringing this drama, colour and spectacle to Dornoch. This show is one definitely not to be missed, you can see the jousting at 12.15pm and 3.30pm
The program is below. There are plenty of places to get a spot of lunch so why not make a day of it? There are marquees to shelter in if it rains but wet weather gear (and suncream/sun hat!) is worth bringing as all of the main events are outside.
