Dornoch’s three day New Year celebration is the perfect mix of dancing, partying, great food and brisk, or leisurely, walks along the beach and family fun and entertainment to please everyone.
At the heart of it all is the famous Hogmanay Street Party in the spectacular setting of the town’s Square with dancing to the Red Reel Ceilidh Band and the lone piper on the Castle tower at midnight to herald fireworks and the New Year. Locals and visitors of all ages will come together to welcome in 2018.
Hogmanay has a range of events and activities leading up to the Street Party but look out for the Labyrinth in Dornoch Cathedral for a moment of quiet in the excitement of the day. Treat yourself to the Black Tie Hogmanay Dinner at Links House. Or if you want to learn the dance steps, you are welcome to join the Social Dancers’ annual party held in the Social Club from 8pm.
New Year’s Day might well start with a hearty breakfast at the Eagle to fuel a day which could include a dip in the sea at noon. Perhaps you will then be ready for a ‘First Footing’ New Year’s lunch at Links House, or visit Cocoa Mountain for their hot chocolate hangover cure!
Royal Dornoch Golf Club holds it first competiiton of the year on 2nd January with those living or holidaying East of Burn v those West of Burn – open to members and visitors.
Do join us for New Year in Dornoch.
