The Pictish Trail

The Highland Pictish Trail leads you on a fascinating adventure through the story of the Highland Picts, who lived in Northern Scotland from 300 – 900AD.

Along the way you’ll visit hill forts, carved standing stones and museums, including the amazing Tarbat Discovery Centre and Dunrobin Castle.

Travelling north from Inverness, the trail travels over the Black Isle, through Easter Ross and onwards up the eastern seaboard of Sutherland to sites dotted around Caithness. By basing yourself in Dornoch you’ll be able to visit locations throughout the trail within a few minutes’ drive.
