Skelbo Forest Walk
Skelbo Forest Walk is an interesting loop trail that leads through mixed pine woodland, down to a gorge and along the banks of Skelbo Burn. Along the way you’ll pass wood sculptures, and the remains of a 2000 year old broch.
The path follows twists and turns through the trees and rewards with occasional vistas north over Loch Fleet.
There are picnic benches and a pretty wildlife pond where you can dip for mini beasts.
Skelbo is just off the A9 between Dornoch and Golspie. From Dornoch take the B9168 (Poles Road) from the war memorial, turning right onto the A9 after 2 miles (3.2 km) near the Trentham Hotel. Continue north for just under a mile (1.6 km) until you see the Skelbo forest signs. Turn right here and the car park is immediately on your left.
