Embo House

Just a couple of miles along the beach from Dornoch town and Golf Club, Embo House occupies a commanding position overlooking the Dornoch Firth. Steeped in history, this Grade A listed house dates originally from the sixteenth century and was one of the castles of the Clan Gordon, but today it provides contemporary and luxurious self-catering accommodation for large family groups and golfers.

There are eight, beautifully furnished double bedrooms, all but one with a spectacular view over the sea – and with a flexible mixture of super-king, king-size and twin beds. Each bedroom has a luxurious en-suite bathroom. Downstairs, there is a fabulously light and well-equipped kitchen, a grand, red dining room which can seat 16, a wonderful cedar-lined library, filled with favourite volumes and games, a cosy sitting room with TV and a large, private whisky bar, well stocked with local malts and operating on an “honesty” basis, complete with pool table and smart TV. There are several real fireplaces and wood-burning stoves, with logs provided. The house has WiFi throughout.

There is a cloak room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and lots of capacity for refreshing damp sports equipment. There is also plenty of space to store golf clubs.

Outside, in the 8 acres of private garden, there is a large BBQ and terrace area, a 6-person hot tub, tree-house, boules court, golf practice pitching area, fire-pit area, croquet and a beautiful glass summer-house in which to catch the last rays of sun, accompanied by friends and your favourite tipple! It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the beach from the house via a private path.

Embo House is available on a self-catering or partly catered basis.
