The quaint fishing village of Embo, just to the north of Dornoch boasts an impressive stretch of golden sands and large dunes that run north from the village up to the mouth of Loch Fleet and its nature reserve.

Perfect to shelter from a westerly wind, Embo beach is enjoyed by families throughout the year. From the shore you can often spot seals heading towards the sandbanks of Loch Fleet, with dolphins, porpoises and even whales also spied in the waves.

Despite this, many swimmers rate Embo for it’s shallow slope of sand and lack of rocks, making it perfect for some cold water therapy.
