As anyone who has had the delight of exploring the Highlands during the colder months will attest to, the Winter months truly are a magical time to visit. Dornoch has a very festive atmosphere and our independent shops all make a great effort with their Christmas displays and amazing range of gifts. It is certainly our favourite place to Christmas shop! -It truly is a great place to find unique gifts whilst avoiding the crowds. And of course, it is an absolute must to stop for a hot chocolate and mince pie along the way and finish the day with a blustery walk on the beach!
Getting here
With Inverness airport and Train station only an hour south of Dornoch, a short break has never been simpler. Hop onto the Caledonian sleeper in London and wake surrounded by snowy mountains. Hire a car or head North on the train or bus. What a way to start your holiday! If you are lucky enough to be a Highland resident, then why not pop to Dornoch for a day trip?

Head to one of our Dark Sky Parks or spots where you can marvel at the sparkling night sky, dip your toes into our crisp sea water, wander around one of the many glistening fresh-water lochs, or venture out into the wilderness to see if you can catch the Northern Lights dancing in the sky.
