Dornoch Festival Week- Come and join the fun whilst enjoying your holiday in Scotland!

Every year the towns and villages across the region each dedicate a week to fun, laughter, music, dancing and games. Whole communities come together to celebrate and have a great time. Tourists are very welcome and during each week is a range of activities for all ages from raft races and clay pigeon shooting to funfairs and storytelling!

Festival Week Booklet 2016 
Dornoch Festival week takes place every year in the week after the Highland Gathering (this year Friday 5 August- www.dornochhighlandgathering.com and the Games Night Dance: 9.30pm, Meadows Park, Strathyre Ceilidh Band)

This year you can expect to see all of the usual fun and games including: Sandcastle Competition, Pram Race, Pet Show, Duck Race, Fancy Dress Football, Teddy bear’s picnic, Kid’s treasure hunt, Arts and Crafts, Pipe Band, Baking competition, Family quiz night, Car treasure hunt and loads more besides!

Festival week will come to an end this year with The Great 400 Years Street Party which is taking place on the 13th of August. It starts at 3pm on the Cathedral green and will have stalls with goods for sale, home baking, bottle stall, raffle, crafts as well as music at four venues in Dornoch. Visit Historylinks Museum to view the Golf Exhibition and Artwork produced by Dornoch Primary School & Academy pupils. Afterward there is a pram race, Fancy dress parade, pipe band and the grand finale- The 400 Dance with music by Shanks Pony!

Lairg Gala week is in it’s 23rd year and continues to provide a fantastic program of events for locals and tourists alike. It launches with a Fun Day at Ferrycroft on Saturday 9th which includes: Parade & Crowning of the Gala Queen, Show of Vintage Vehicles, Bubbles the Clown, Climbing Wall, Facepainting, Bouncy Castle, BBQ, Zorbing ball and more! The fun continues through the week with activities everyday such as a Car Treasure Hunt, Fun Fair, Sports Day, Whist Night, Fancy Dress Disco, Fun Fishing, Story Time/Facepainting, Coffee Afternoon, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Play-day, Kids Disco, Table Tennis and Bingo!Full program available at Cost Cutter in Lairg and the Spar in Bonar Bridge.

Brora Carnival Week- Sunday 24  until Saturday 30 July 2016

Brora Carnival week is packed full of fun activities and includes a Raft Race, Wheelbarrow race, Kids fancy dress wheelbarrow race, Disco, sandcastle competition, Car treasure hunt, bouncy castle, duck race and much much more.

Golspie Gala Week- Saturday 30 until Saturday 6 August 2016

All the usual events which people look forward to are in the program this year: the Demolition Derby, the Fancy Dress Parade with its spectacular groups, individuals and floats, the Ben Bhraggie Hill Race and the Novelty Wheelbarrow Race, the Flower Show, now in its 27th Year and of course the Grand Finale with the Massed Pipe Bands, a beautiful spectacle against the backdrop of Ben Bhraggie. Throughout the week there are sports competitions, quizzes and treasure hunts and live music.

Kyle of Sutherland Gala Week- Saturday 30 until Sunday 7 August 2016

The week is full of events for all ages and opens this year with the Gala Fete on Saturday 30th July- Craft & Food tent, Sideshows, Games, Fire Brigade, Bouncy Castle, Burger Van, Ice Cream Van, Hook a Duck, Music, Tractor Display & Dog Agility Display. The rest of the week is packed with activities such as a Pet Show, Car Treasure Hunt, Bushcraft Survival, Flower Show, Sports Sessions, Cycling, Disco, Children’s Sports, Pub Quiz and Treasure Hunts, as well as a Whist Drive, a trip to the Black Isle Show and much, much more!
