Every year the towns and villages across the region each dedicate a week to fun, laughter, music, dancing and games. Whole communities come together to celebrate and have a great time. Tourists are very welcome and during each week is a range of activities for all ages from raft races and clay pigeon shooting to funfairs and storytelling!

Dornoch Festival week takes place every year in the week after the Highland Gathering (this year Friday 4 August- www.dornochhighlandgathering.com and the Games Night Dance: (9.30pm, Meadows Park)
This year you can expect to see all of the usual fun and games including: Sandcastle Competition, Pram Race, Pet Show, Duck Race, Fancy Dress Football, Teddy bear’s picnic, Kid’s treasure hunt, Arts and Crafts, Pipe Band, Baking competition, Family quiz night, Car treasure hunt and loads more besides!
Monday 7th August
10.30am- Pet Show at Meadows Park.
2.30pm- Family Bingo at the Marquee.
6pm- Crowning of the Princess, Prince and Attendant at the Marquee.
6.30pm- Car Treasure Hunt starts at the Marquee.
Tuesday 8th August
2pm- Children’s Fancy Dress- The Marquee.
7pm- Cash Bingo at the Marquee.
Wednesday 9th August
9.30pm-1pm- Dornoch Community Market.
10.30am- Window Spotting Competition.
7pm- Junior 5-a-side Football at Meadows Park.
7pm- Family Quiz Night at the Dornoch Social Club (Bring your Own Bottle)
Thursday 10th August
12pm- Teddy Bear’s Picnic at the Marquee.
2.30pm- Kids Sports at the Meadows.

3pm- Dornoch Cinema (BFG) in the Social Club (£5 adult, £3 Child)
7pm- Adult Fancy Dress 5-a-side Football. Meadows Park.

Saturday 12th August
11am- Duck Race at the Dornoch Burn.
6.30pm- Junior and Adult Pram races- Dornoch Square.
7pm- Fancy Dress and Parade of the Floats- Dornoch Square.
8pm- Dornoch Pipe Band- Dornoch Square.

Lairg Gala week is in it’s 24th year and continues to provide a fantastic program of events for locals and tourists alike. Last year’s highlights included: Fun Day at Ferrycroft: Parade & Crowning of the Gala Queen, Show of Vintage Vehicles, Bubbles the Clown, Climbing Wall, Face Painting, Bouncy Castle, BBQ, Zorbing ball and more! There was also a Car Treasure Hunt, Fun Fair, Sports Day, Whist Night, Fancy Dress Disco, Fun Fishing, Story Time/FacePainting, Coffee Afternoon, Clay Pigeon Shoot, Play-day, Kids Disco, Table Tennis and Bingo! Brora Carnival week is packed full of fun activities and last year included a Raft Race, Wheelbarrow race, Kids fancy dress wheelbarrow race, Disco, sandcastle competition, Car treasure hunt, bouncy castle, duck race and much much more. Last year’s event included: the Demolition Derby, the Fancy Dress Parade with its spectacular groups, individuals and floats, the Ben Bhraggie Hill Race and the Novelty Wheelbarrow Race, the Flower Show, now in its 28th Year and of course the Grand Finale with the Massed Pipe Bands, a beautiful spectacle against the backdrop of Ben Bhraggie. Throughout the week there are sports competitions, quizzes and treasure hunts and live music.

The rest of the week was packed with activities such as a Pet Show, Car Treasure Hunt, Bushcraft Survival, Flower Show, Sports Sessions, Cycling, Disco, Children’s Sports, Pub Quiz and Treasure Hunts, as well as a Whist Drive, a trip to the Black Isle Show and much, much more!
