Every Saturday evening, from the 25th of May to the 7th of September, the Square in Dornoch comes alive with the resonating tunes of the Pipe Band . Their wonderful performances and capped off by Highland dancing displays – offering a delightful treat for all.
Midweek brings the ever-popular Community Markets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of each month, between May and September. Taking place on the Cathedral Green, these markets boast a diverse array of stalls offering homegrown produce, artisanal crafts, delectable treats, and unique finds—a perfect opportunity for a leisurely midweek browse.
A highlight of Dornoch’s summer calendar is the Sutherland County Show on the 20th of July 2024, held at the stunning Dornoch Links. It’s a day dedicated to the whole family, showcasing the finest livestock from across the Highlands alongside a Food Fair, Fun Fair, vintage vehicle exhibition, and a marquee dance.
On the 2nd of August, revel in the authenticity of our annual Dornoch Highland Gathering. A day eagerly anticipated by locals and visitors, it offers a blend of traditional Scottish competitions—piping, Highland dancing, caber tossing, and ball putting—alongside track and field events, fairground attractions, children’s races, and mini Highland games.
The excitement continues throughout the week from the 5th to the 10th of August with Dornoch Festival Week. This family friendly (and adult friendly!) event presents a whole range of activities, from sandcastle competitions and children’s sports to family quiz nights, car treasure hunts, a ceilidh, tea dances, and a charming teddy bear’s picnic—a delightful week of fun for all ages.
